Marlowe Theatre programme 1969

Ruth Wynn Owen's career is outlined in the programme notes for the Marlowe Theatre, Canterbury, production of 'The Ghost Train' (16 - 27 Sept 1969); Ruth played Miss Bourne.

The programme notes state:

Ruth Wynn Owen spent some years with the Old Vic, playing a variety of roles, has understudied Miss Peggy Ashcroft many times, and toured with the Wilson-Barrett Company. Being so petite [5' 1 1/2"] she played a number of child parts early in her career. After appearing in THE PHYSICISTS at the Manchester Library Theatre she joined the Marlowe Company to give a delightful performance as 'Miss Fernival' in BLACK COMEDY. In our opening play this season, WHEN WE ARE MARRIED, she was the harassed little 'Maria Helliwell'.

My mother and I saw her in the latter role. Her other roles with the company included Hattie in "Kiss Me Kate", Miss Milton in "The Cathedral" and Bertha in "Hedda Gabler".
