Elias Owen (1833 - 1899)
Rev.Elias Owen, was headmaster of Llanllechid School. He graduated from Trinity College Dublin, as did two of his brothers.
He was a curate at Llanwnog, Montgomeryshire, & at Holy Trinity Church, Oswestry, before becoming rector of
Efenechtyd & then vicar of Llanyblodwel, Salop.
His greatest claim to fame is as an antiquarian whose work is still highly valued. His books continue to be reprinted & his best known work on Welsh folklore is available as an e-book.
