Victoria's son Harry Starkey was born in 1898 [Birkenhead 1898, 3rd qt]. He may have been the Harry Starkey who married Mary Davies [Birkenhead 1920, 4th qt]. They appeared to have settled in Harrow, Middlesex, his death being recorded in 1966 [Harrow 1966, 3rd qt], aged 68; the death of Mary C Starkey, aged 65, [Harrow 1959, 1st qt] may have been that of his wife.
Victoria's son Arthur Starkey was born on 31 March 1901 [Birkenhead 1901, 2nd qt]. In the 1901 census he was listed as 'Cyril Starkey' but was registered as 'Arthur' and known as 'Arthur' thereafter. He married Sallie Williams in 1921 [Birkenhead 1921, 3rd qt] who had been born on 29 December 1900. They had three daughters and a son and, by 1939, the family had moved to Bristol, where Arthur died [Bristol 1978, 3rd qt]; Sallie died in the winter of 1980/81 [Bristol 1981, 1st qt]. The photograph (right) of their three daughters, Jean, Thelma and Beryl, may have been taken in the garden of their home in Fishponds, Bristol.
Jean Starkey was born on 27 September, 1920 (her birth may have been registered as Jean C Williams, mother’s name Williams [Birkenhead 1920, 4th qt]). Jean married Ernest Gladstone Angell [Bristol 1944, 4th qt] who was seven years her senior and they had a daughter. (There are living descendants.) Jean died in 1974 [Bristol 1974, 1st qt] and the following year Ernest married her sister, Thelma C Starkey, [Bristol 1975, 4th qt] who had lived with Jean and Ernest for many years. Thelma was said to have
a wicked sense of humour and an infectious laugh. She had been born in about 1921/2 [Birkenhead 1922, 1st qt]. Ernest who had been born on 24 December 1913, died in 1984, aged 70 [Bristol, Jan 1984]. Thelma was living at Springleaze, Mangotsfield, when she was diagnosed with terminal cancer in 2009 and the following year she moved into Norewood Lodge Nursing Home in Portishead, where she died on 8 September 2011.
The third sister, Beryl Doris Starkey, born on 16 November 1923 [Wirral 1923, 4th qt], married Royston (Roy) Reginald Kirley [Bristol 1948, 3rd qt]. I believe they had no children and that, in retirement, Roy helped organise volunteers working on the Bristol Aero Collection.. Doris died in 1988, aged sixty four [Bristol, Oct 1988] and Roy (b. 4 November 1925) on 6 March 2012.
