Victoria's son Harry Starkey was born on 17 July 1898 [Birkenhead]. He married [Birkenhead 1920, 4th qt] Mary Davies (b 25 July 1893) and by 1937 they had moved down to live at 6 Windsor Drive, Harrow, which is where they appear to have spent the rest of their lives. The 1939 Register shows Harry as a plasterer's labourer and with him and Mary were Margaret Caldecott (b 15 Jan 1914) probably with her two children and Gladys Davies (b 23 July 1910) with one child. I have found no evidence that Harry and Mary had any children. Margaret lived with them for many years. Latterly Mary was recorded as Mary C Starkey. She was 65 when she died [Harrow 1959, 1st qt]. A few years later, Harry's sister Elsie came to live with him and Margaret. Harry was 68 when he died [Harrow 1966, 3rd qt] and Elsie probably stayed on in Harrow as she married there two years later.
In 1911, Edith Starkey, who was born in Birkenhead on 26 October 1904, was 7 and Elsie Starkey, born in Birkenhead on 1 August 1906 was 5. In 1939, they were still unmarried and living in Birkenhead with their eldest brother, Elijah, and his wife, Lizzie; both were "Paid daily domestic" workers. However, a few years later Edith married Peter O'Hare [Birkenhead 1944, 3rd qt]. Sadly, she died less than ten years later, aged 48 [Birkenhead 1953, 1st qt]. Her sister, Elsie, by contrast, lived to be 98 [d Hendon, July 2005]. A few years after her brother Harry had lost his wife, Elsie moved down to live with him and the other residents in his house in Harrow. She must have remained there after Harry's death and was married, late in life, to Alfred Charles Norgate [Harrow 1968, 4th qt], a man ten years her senior [b 1 June 1896] who had lost his wife Emily a year earlier. Nevertheless he predeceased her and she lived the last thirty years of her life as a widow, Alfred having died when he was 79 [Hendon, Sep. 1975]. Elsie's life spanned more than twice that of her sister as she lived to be 98 [d Brent, July 2005].
