John Owen Jones
The third child of Louisa and John Jones, John Owen Jones, known as Jack, was born on 25 April 1892. He lived at 50 Spring View Road, Rhosddu, Wrexham, next door to his nephew Geoffrey and just along the road from his spinster aunts and from Geoffrey’s parents. John married [Wrexham 1924, 4th qt] Leonora (Nora) Pritchard. She was the daughter of William, a joiner, and Margaret E. Pritchard of Rhosddu, Wrexham, and had been born on 13 March 1891 [Wrexham].
Jack worked at the local waterworks. He was a clerk in the office there in 1911 and a cashier there in 1939 when he and Nora were living at 54 Spring Road, Wrexham; his sister Maggie was living at 62 with her family. I was told that Jack rose to become head of the Waterworks Company and that in later life he suffered ill-health though he continued to play golf. An ulcerated lung caused circulatory problems and required treatment in London. Nora was an invalid and must have struggled to cope after Jack's death Wrexham 1959, 1st qt]. For the last three years of her life she lived with her nephew, Geoffrey Gill, and his family. Nora died in 1973 [Wrexham 1973, 1st qt]. She and John had no children.
