Sarah Ann Owen (c1829 - 1898)
Sarah Ann Owen was the eldest child of James and Susannah Owen. She married John Shelby, a lead miner, & they spent much of their married life living near Wrexham. Eight children survived into adulthood; they also adopted a deaf mute boy.
Some distinguished Shelbys in the USA share a common ancestry with John Shelby.
It is thought that the name
'Shelby' was originally 'Selby'.
